Conway Stewart No 15 (Marbled Plum)

This pen was produced between 1952-1963. Like many vintage Conway Stewarts, this is fairly small pen, but not quite as small as the No 84 shown next (12.7cm). A smooth writer, thanks to the soft 14K gold nib. It is in very good condition and the chrome plating has not worn as gold might have done. This pen is made of Casein, a form of early plastic made from cow’s protein, hardened by soaking in formalin. It was popular for buttons and fountain pens as it readily takes a surface dye.
