Jinhao 8802 ‘Deep sea bright pearl shell’
This is a very attractive design from Jinhao. The 8802 comes in several designs, including wood, porcelain and this shell design, which features panels of ‘inlaid’ pearl and abalone shell. This is reminiscent of the traditional far-eastern inlaid shell lacquerwork, or ‘raden’. However, as this mass produced pen retails for less than £15, I think it is safe to say that no real shell is used and the shell effect is created by clever designs embedded in the acrylic. Nevertheless, the overall effect is of a much more expensive pen than it actually is.
